During UNITY’s recent annual conference in Kissimmee, Florida, the National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development and UNITY co-hosted a Business Plan Competition for Youth. The competition required high school and college-aged participants to develop a business plan and pitch their idea to a panel of experts. We are pleased to announce that Joseph Davis from Gila River Indian Community and Rachel Arthur from Colville Confederated Tribes won the competition for their idea to create a coffee shop called Aesthetic Coffee Co. Joseph and Rachel presented a powerpoint to the audience and explained how they arrived at their idea, what methods they used in their research, and how they created a sound – and ultimately winning – business plan.
For their work and creativity, they were awarded $1,500! Congratulations to Joseph and Rachel for winning the competition, and to all of our participants for sharing their ideas with the conference.
