MESA, AZ – The National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development (the National Center) announced today that it will host a new, regionally-focused event this September at the Tulalip Resort Casino in Washington state, just north of Seattle. Titled the Northwest Enterprise Development Conference and themed “Power of the Past, Force for the Future,” the conference will have a strong regional focus on the Pacific Northwest economy, especially those industries well-represented in Indian Country. The event will also have a significant focus on youth and young adult entrepreneurship, featuring the YES! summit and the ceremony to honor winners of the 40 under 40 awards. The conference will take place from September 4 -7.
“We are very excited to announce a new approach with the Northwest Enterprise Development Conference,” said Chris James, President and CEO of the National Center. “The event will have a heavy focus on the regional economies of the Pacific Northwest and Alaska, and we’ll also highlight opportunities for and accomplishments of Native youth. We hope this will be the first of many regional conferences, and we thank the Tulalip Tribes for serving as our host. The National Center hopes American Indian and Alaska Native community members will join us so we can work together to be that strong force for the future.”
The conference will feature deep dives on business basics, leadership and management, and economic development, with topics such as technology, innovation, marketing, business planning, customer service, and e-commerce. For job seekers, and particularly young adult job seekers, the conference will host sessions on human capital and career development to improve interview skills, resume and cover letter development, and enhance your professional online presence.
Conference sessions will focus on the regional economy and issues unique to the Pacific Northwest, including technology, fishing, the environment, agriculture, and others.
The Northwest Enterprise Development Conference will also feature the third annual YES! – or Youth Entrepreneurship Summit. This will be the first time the summit will take place outside of New Mexico. The summit is designed for students and younger adults to learn more about what it takes to succeed in business through an interactive program featuring established Native business leaders and speakers.
The National Center will also honor winners of its prestigious 40 Under 40awards during the conference. These awards honor 40 emerging or established Native American leaders under the age of 40. The American Indian Business Scholarships will also be announced at the Northwest Enterprise Development Conference. For more information or to apply, please click here.
