Our board member Ernie Stevens, Jr. accepted the “Spirit of Community” award from the Phoenix Indian Center on behalf of his father, Ernie Stevens, Sr. The presentation took place during the organization’s 34th Annual Silver & Turquoise Ball on Saturday night. The elder Mr. Stevens is a nationally-recognized Native American leader and veteran, who was also one of the founders of the National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development. He is a fitting and deserving recipient of the award, especially as the Phoenix Indian Center celebrates its 70th Anniversary of unparalleled service to Native American community in the Phoenix area. Whether its job preparedness training, cultural enrichment, youth programming, or community engagement, the Phoenix Youth Center is making a positive contribution to our community.
